Community Contribution #2
To get a better understanding of the map, I watched David Whites YouTube video named “Just the Mapping.” In the video, they explained each individual prompt and their differences. For my map, I used the my “settings” in my iPhone to find out the amount of hours I am on each app throughout 1 week. The size difference of each logo refers to my most used apps, the bigger the more frequently used.
As you can see when looking at my map; instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat are all on the personal and resident side. I’ve been using these apps for a long time now but as I’ve gotten older, Snapchat has seemed to be used a lot less while TikTok and instagram are being used a lot more. With instagram being my most used social media platform, I’ve learned that instagram can be a very useful tool in my future careers. Like I have mentioned in my first community contribution, instagram has landed me manny opportunities when it comes to playing basketball, this explains why it’s in between personal and institutional, the scrolling on “reels” makes it a bit more on the personal side since I use it as an escape from the institutional side. My use of teams is strictly institutional since it is used everyday for communication with coaches, staff, and also this class! Other apps like safari, ChatGPT, and facebook are not frequently used but I would refer to them as a support or as a way to find something out/something to buy.
In the near future, expanding my professional learning network would benefit me greatly. First, I would build different accounts on the same and or different platforms. This could be, basketball accounts, workout accounts, nutrition, day in the lives etc. I would continue on instagram but also expand a lot more on TikTok since it is very popular in today’s day and age. I also want to spread my name on platforms like twitter and LinkedIn since I could reach a wider range of different people, and possible employers, coaches, and agents. Expanding my digital identity this way will allow me to also learn from so many other people, thus benefiting my PLN even further.
